This from season 2021 new Nordic competition is actually several competitions in one, like a Kinder Egg. It is a mixture of traditional scramble with new variants. Golfing skills will not be enough to win. It will take team spirit, strategy, tactics and that all players have fun together!
Competition format
The format is threesome scramble stroke play with no handicaps, played in the following three variants:
Hole 1-6, traditional scramble
Each team member hits a tee shot on every hole. The team then decides which of the three balls is in the best position to play next and mark it. Each player, in optional order, places the ball within 15 cm from the marker, but not closer to the hole, and plays a shot. This procedure is repeated for each shot until a ball is holed.
Hole 7- 12, scramble with twists
Each team member hits a tee shot on every hole. The team then decides which of the three balls is in the best position to play next and mark it. Each player, in optional order, places the ball within 15 cm from the marker, but not closer to the hole, and plays a shot.
Twist no 1: All team players to be accountable for two tee shots.
Twist no 2: The team cannot use two consecutive shots (putts included) from the same player. However, the player whose shot is not accounted for may use his/her shot to show the way, i.e. to show the putting line.
Hole 13- 18, bloodsome scramble with a free throw
Each team member hits a tee shot on every hole. The team then decides which of the three balls is in the worst position to play next and mark it. Each player, in optional order, places the ball within 15 cm from the marker, but not closer to the hole, and plays a shot. After the next shot the team once again selects the worst position. In other words, always from the poorest position. There is no definition of what constitutes the worst shot. The shortest shot is not necessarily the worst shot depending upon penalty areas, bunkers, etc. The team must make an honest judgement of the poorest position.
On the green the team selects the position of the ball furthest from the hole. As soon as a putt is holed the team score is done and the hole is finished.
Twist no 1: The team may use one throw (Norwegian stableford) on each hole to put the ball in a more favourable position. A throw may be utilised from any position provided that it is on the course, i.e. a ball that is out of bounds may not be thrown back into play. Each team member may throw the ball twice. A throw does not count as a shot.
Twist no 2: The team cannot use two consecutive shots (putts included) from the same player.
Teams
Each team consists of three players. Participants sign up individually and are put into teams by the Swedish captain. The team should preferably comprise one low, one average and one high handicapper. The ambition is also to achieve a mix of women and men, and nationalities. Men play from the yellow tees, ladies from the red.
